Appalachian Trail, Damascus VA

We got up at 8 am and headed to Damascus,Virginia from Boone North Carolina where we are staying for the Christmas holidays. The weather forecast announced rain 70 percent with temperatures climbing to 37 degrees. The rain was present throughout the afternoon though Was sunny during the morning. We arrived at Sundog Outfitters where we received a friendly and helped us find the trail head of Appalachian trails. We started walking towards the traihead find ourselves with a stairway, there began the day. The first few miles up, there is not much seen by the trees so high, but at last we were on the trails Appalachians, where many hikers pass thru of 6-7 months starting springer mountain GA to Katahdin Maine realizing a dream, I hope to do it someday too.
Already past noon it started raining and did not stop until we reached Sundog Outfitters, who waited until we get to the store, they knew that we are from Florida and had never been to Damascus especially the Appalachians trails. We ended up hiking 10 miles, we arrived at Sundog Outfitters where they let us change clothes, right next to this Subway where we ate because we could not because of the rain that accompanied us most of the way.

I want to return to the Appalachians trails, maybe next time to Mt Rodgers.

Keep hiking
